WHAT ARE THE FOOTBALL LEAGUES IN AUSTRALIA?
The A League is the top tier in Australian football/soccer. The National Premier League (NPL) and State league is the 2nd & 3rd tier on the Australian soccer pyramid. The NPL & State League is part-time/semi professional soccer.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON START AND FINISH?
A lot of NPL clubs will begin pre-season before Christmas. The league campaigns will start in February/March and finish in September.
WHEN DO CLUBS RECRUIT PLAYERS IN AUSTRALIA?
Clubs & coaches in the NPL and State Leagues will be recruiting players from September - January.
WILL I BE OFFERED A CONTRACT?
Yes, if a coach or club want to sign you, they may ask you to sign a professional contract with the club for one or two seasons.
IF I SIGN FOR A CLUB WILL I BE PAID A SALARY?
No, the majority of players at the NPL & State League level are paid per game during the league season only.
WHAT WAGES CAN I EXPECT AS A SEMI-PRO SOCCER PLAYER IN AUSTRALIA?
Wages in the NPL & State League can vary from $100 per game to $1000 per game. This will depend on the club and the player involved.
WILL I BE PAID DURING PRE-SEASON?
No, the majority of players at the NPL & State League level are not paid during pre-season. Pay will begin when the league season starts.
WHAT DOES A WEEKLY SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE DURING SEASON?
Training 2-3 evenings per week with a match day on a Friday night or Saturday.
WILL THE CLUB PAY FOR MY FLIGHT & HOUSING?
This will depend on the club & player. Some clubs may help pay for a flight to Australia and help with housing. This will be decided during your negotiations with the club. Always be prepared to cover your own fli

No, we offer a services to soccer players looking to play at the semi-professional level in Australia or New Zealand. You, the player, will negotiate your own contract. Our services is to market your profile to clubs and coaches and connect you both. You may have an agent while utilising our services.

A visa player is any player who is not an Australian Resident or Citizen. In the NPL, clubs are only allowed sign
DO PLAYERS WORK WHILE PLAYING SEMI-PRO SOCCER?
Yes, the majority of players will work either a part-time or full-time job alongside being a semi-professional soccer player. Remember, most players are only paid during the league season. Australia offers some great work opportunities to visa holders.
WHAT VISA DO I NEED TO ENTER AUSTRALIA?
The majority of players will enter Australia on a 417 or 462 Working Holiday Visa.

This can vary anywhere from a full scholarship (everything paid for) to a partial scholarship (percent of fees are paid for).
